The Federal Ministry of Power has stated that the Federal Government has not taken any decision to give Nigerians free electricity for two months.
This announcement was made on Twitter via the Ministry’s official account.
The Ministry, headed by Engr. Saleh Mamman, wrote in a tweet shared this morning, April 10: “Please Note: NO DECISION has been taken by the Federal Government to provide Nigerians with FREE ELECTRICITY for 2 months. If and when that becomes a reality, it shall be announced officially. Be rest assured that FG is exploring ways to ameliorate any hardship on Nigerians.”
This comes after Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila announced plans to consider a fresh Stimulus Bill that will ensure that Nigerians get free electricity supply for two months during this Coronavirus pandemic (read here) and Power Distribution Companies in Nigeria threw their weight behind the bill (read here).
